Ragtag is a community surf club for Lisbon. We make it easier to surf consistently, train for the sport, access local spots, connect with the local surf culture and actually know the people you see in the lineup.

Ragtag foundersRagtag Surf Club was founded by Jack & Martha. Two surfers who moved to Lisbon, discovered a rich surf culture and community and wanted to make that accessible to more people like them.
A regular crewSame beaches, weekly rhythm, same faces. Beginners, improvers and advanced all have a place to show up.
Everyone's welcomeRagtag Surf Club is, by definition, a beautifully mismatched group. Whether you were born in Lisbon or moved here yesterday, you are equally welcome.

Carcavelos at 10am is our default. But if waves are better, for example, at Caparica at a different time, you get the call in the week.

Good to know

Where and when does Ragtag Surf Club meet?

Carcavelos or Caparica, every Sunday at 10am (or earlier if the surfs better then). More days and locations are coming as the club grows.

Do I need to be able to surf already?

No. Beginners, improvers and advanced all have a place — we paddle out by ability, and switch to surf strength, mobility or yoga on the beach when it's flat.

How much is membership?

€49 a month, and founding members lock that price in for life as the club grows.

Can I try it once before joining?

Yes — a €19 tester session. The first one is Sunday 5 July 2026 at Caparica.

Do I need my own board and wetsuit?

No. We partner with local surf schools that rent a range of boards and wetsuits. When you sign up for the tester session or membership, we'll email you to understand what you need and get you booked in.

How much are lessons and board rental through the club?

Lessons start at €35, including a board and wetsuit, and go up based on the instructor and equipment you choose. Board rental starts at €20. Founding members get an additional 20% off both.

What should I bring to the first session?

Just yourself. We'll sort the rest.
